Privacy Policy

Mentor Council (“we”, “us”) connects mentees with mentors and provides AI-assisted career tools. This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with. It applies to mentorcouncil.com and the Mentor Council dashboard.

Information we collect

• Account information: name, email address, and (if you sign in with Google) your Google profile name and email.
• Resume content: the text of any resume you upload, and any tailored versions our AI tools generate for you.
• Mentor profile information (if you set one up): current title, company, years of experience, expertise areas, bio, and your availability schedule.
• Career and interview data: target roles, locations, salary estimates you request, mock interview transcripts and feedback, and job applications you track.
• Booking and referral information: mentor call bookings, timing, and referral requests between mentees and mentors.
• Basic usage data collected automatically by our hosting provider (e.g. request logs), used only for reliability and security.

How we use it

• To create and run your account, and match mentees with mentors.
• To power AI features — resume tailoring, mock interview practice, and job match scoring — by sending relevant text (e.g. your resume, a job description) to our AI provider for processing on your behalf.
• To search live job listings against the role and location you specify.
• To schedule mentor calls and send related notifications.
• To maintain the security and reliability of the platform.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your resume or interview content to train AI models.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to run Mentor Council. Each only receives the data it needs to do its job:

• Supabase — our database, authentication, and file storage provider. Your account data, resumes, and bookings are stored here.
• Anthropic (Claude) — processes resume text, job descriptions, and interview conversations to power our AI features.
• Google — two separate uses. If you choose “Continue with Google” to sign in, Google handles that authentication and we only receive your name and email. Separately, when a mentor call is booked, we use Google Calendar to create the event and Google Meet link, which requires sending both the mentor's and mentee's email addresses to Google as calendar invite recipients.
• Job listing sources (RemoteOK, Arbeitnow, JSearch, Adzuna) — receive your search terms (role and location) to return matching listings; they do not receive your resume or personal details.
• Resend — sends account emails (confirmation, password reset, and welcome emails) on our behalf; receives your email address and name.
• Vercel — hosts the application and handles web traffic.

Other Mentor Council users see only what's intended to be visible on the platform — for example, a mentor's public profile, or a mentee's name once a booking or referral connects you.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, email us at jayamurugan.mm@gmail.com and we'll process the request.

Cookies

We use cookies only to keep you signed in and to remember your session — not for advertising or third-party tracking.

Children's privacy

Mentor Council is intended for users age 16 and older, and is not directed at children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
